Summer Days

I can't believe how fast the summer is flying by.  Being away for 3 weeks didn't help but now I'm home for a bit and enjoying it so much.  It's nice to be home with the kitties and Jer.

I'm back to playing catch up on laundry and cleaning but doing a bit every night is helping.  I recently bought a swiffer steam mop with a coupon on Amazon and can't wait to try it out. With two black cats our floors never seem to look clean. I need to make some covers for my swiffer mops soon so I don't have to buy and throw out the disposables anymore.

My next #stashdownsummer project will be to make a shrug for a dress I ordered for an upcoming wedding.  My excitement to be able to wear strapless things is growing.  I finally made an order on eshakti.com I can't wait to see how they turn out.  I've heard great reviews from a few different Ravelry groups about this site and I am hoping I choose the correct size.  I figure I'll check out the standard size and then see how much changing will be required and if a custom size will be better.  $7 for a custom size for a high quality dress is pretty sweet.  You can also customize the style (neckline, length and sleeves on most dress), plus they come with pockets!!

I ordered two dresses because it was a 30% off sale and I was curious on the fit around the bust. I haven't received them yet but these are the pictures from the website.  I am trying to decide what shrug I should make and hoping I can use some stash yarn for it.  I have some Wollmeise Sockenwolle in a beautiful dark teal color that might be perfect against the navy.  Plus it's in a 500+ yard skein so hopefully it will be enough for a shrug.

For the Chambray dress I was thinking of layering over it the Mashrabiya Vest from Sarah Wilson.  I could either wear it as a shawl or wrap it to mimick the v-neck faux wrap in the front. I have two skeins of Madilentosh in Forestry (bright teal) that I have been saving for this.  It is a little bigger then a shrug and I might not be able to have it done and blocked by mid-July.

This weekend I may also be trying to make some Blackberry Peach sorbet, doing some faux tanning and highlighting my hair so watch out for some hopefully successful stories.
