Busy Weekends

I love weekends, and it seems like lately my weekends are filled with stuff to do. Since going home for Labor day I went to Maine for a wedding and then this weekend went to Boston and a BBQ and now next weekend am going back to Maine to visit J's "fake" brother and sister (ex girlfriend's step brother and his wife).

I'll start with Labor Day weekend.

I went home Friday and got to visit with a ton of friends from high school. One of my friends is leaving (has left by now) for France for an assistant teaching type program, so we had a small going away night for her. It was such a great time relaxing with old friends. I forgot how amazing they are and it's incredible that after five years apart we can still hang out and have fun and feel as close as we were in high school. Saturday morning I was able to sleep in and relax. I worked on my Firestarter socks a bit, visited a friend while she was at work, saw my aunt who was on the East coast for her annual World Cup visit and then got ready to go out again. Saturday night I went to White Plains' Cheesecake factory to celebrate Karen's 24th birthday. During the hour long wait for a table I got to work on more of my Firestarter and catch up with the White Plains crowd. Then Sunday I got to see Bri and head to The Shake Shack then Westport Yarns. Westport Yarns is a wonderful little yarn store on the Post Rd in Westport. It has a great selection and a surprising amount of yarn for its size. We had a great time exploring and in the end I got a copy of Interweave Holiday Knits 2011 with Tal's patterns :) Bri got some wonderful sock yarn in a great teal/black color scheme. After shopping we headed back to my parent's house to hang out on the back porch and knit, enjoying the great weather. I had to take out the gusset of my sock once but the progress I made was still pretty good:

After Labor Day weekend came the wedding weekend. A couple I met through work were getting married and I got invited through my awesome connections (J's plus one). We drove up to Maine Friday and had dinner up there with a few people. Then Saturday we helped set up some Christmas lights around the reception area. The whole wedding was wonderful. The ceremony was at a little church right on the water, everything was simple and beautiful. After the ceremony they had a shuttle service from the hotel to the Transportation Museum where they had rented the exhibition room. It had lots of old mint condition cars around the outside area but more important the middle of the room was the dance floor. I don't think I have ever had so much fun dancing. This beat all proms and formals. A few glasses of wine and I have no idea how much of a fool I looked but I had a blast shakin' my booty with J all night. He is wonderful and ridiculous and a much better dancer then I am. His PM took this photo of us at the end: I love it because I was so happy and exhausted, he doesn't because he thinks he looks fat so I won't post it on facebook but I will post it here and order a copy for our bedroom :)

Now as the rambling blog post of being bored at work continues....... this past weekend. Even though it was a weekend staying at home it was still super busy with things to do. Friday night we relaxed and watch Batman Begins and made peanut butter jelly cookies:

The cookies were for Saturday. Another coworker invited us over to his house for an end of summer / enjoy his deck and great grass BBQ. In the morning I went to Sit and Knit at In the Loop where I bought some yummy yarn for my sister's Bella Mitts for Christmas. Always a great start to the day, specially with the crisp fall air kicking in. Then in the afternoon we went to the BBQ and had a lot of fun hanging out with friends eating good food and drinking some Woodchuck Cider. Sunday we went into Boston, I finally gave in and just made an appointment at Intimacy to find some bras. Intimacy is great because they have fitters there and pretty much will do all the shopping for as well as being there to tell you what fits and know how to fix it. It's great because I get the validation that I'm not crazy, my boobs really are too big for 90% of brands and I am not a 38 band (what the Nordstorm tried to convince me of). While they don't really have sales I don't spend a fortune in shipping back tons of bad purchases and possibly paying interest on the credit card purchase. I bought one everyday bra (in a deep purple :) ) and two sports bras. The other great thing about Intimacy is their free tailoring for bras. Since most sport bras don't have my cup size for my band size; they will take a larger band size that has my cup size associated with it and take in the band. The will also take in bands for old bras that have stretched out and keep track of what you have ordered there in what size, etc. I was also able to try on a bathing suit and while I didn't like the print (end of season pickings) I'm looking for it online in a solid color to order. During the whole weekend we had wonderful weather that just makes me so excited for fall. I really want to go apple picking this season but so far all the fun things I'm doing are getting in the way ..... :)
