I'm a sucker for deals. I think I might just cut up my credit card this Christmas season because I'll buy too much stuff for myself because it's "on sale" so why not get it done now? One sale that regularly hooks me is free shipping offers. I hate paying for shipping if I know I can get it for free. When you are buying $45 worth of stuff and it's $10 shipping or $30 more stuff, I'll take the $30 more stuff.
Which is what I did during my last Jimmy Beans Wool order (plus you get 5% back for your next order). I found a beaded bracelet kit to make something for my sister for Christmas (so it was a legitimate purchase) and one for me to fill the rest of my cart. Also, I did this for a recent Knit Picks order. I needed some more cable needles and can always use more darning needles. They seem to have the best prices in the styles I like (thin metal u-shaped). For the beaded kit, I ordered their set of small crochet hooks perfect for adding beads to knitting. And last, to make the $50 requirement for free shipping I bought the Hue Shift Afghan kit that was on sale. I really want to snuggle a knitted blanket this winter. And Jer and I asked our parents for money to put towards a new couch for Christmas, so a new blanket is a must for it :) I figured the mitered squares would be easy to fit between a bunch of little projects I planned for Christmas knitting. And yes I planned Christmas knitting, bonk me on the head now.
Making the blanket out of blocks should be good for putting down, picking up and seeing progress. But..... I didn't expect it to be so addicting. As soon as I cast on I didn't want to put it down, I just kept wanting to finish one more block. This weekend I finished 8/100 blocks. Hopefully tonight I can put it down and finish the finger-less gloves I have close to done for my mom. Then I"ll have one Christmas present off the list.
Your cat has good taste in yarn! Love the colours you've chosen for your blanket.
