Finding home in Texas

I just got back from a two week business trip in Texas.  Testing is a long hard process when it's at our home office but add being away from home, having more responsibility then normal, working with new processes and people..... Let's just say it was a really hard trip for me.  I won't bore you with the work stuff, but by the end of the second week I was feeling chewed up and spit out and was ready to be done. I barely got any knitting done because we were working long hours and then going out to eat every night, so by the time we got back to the hotel I was ready for bed.  Plus I frogged my Rayures cowl three times trying to get a width, gauge and stripe pattern I liked.

Ok, now that I got all the crap off my chest lets try to focus on the good stuff that happened.  We went to the Kemah Boardwalk one night before the cold set in.  We had a nice time walking around and had dinner.  Then on our day off, we went into Houston to see the Houston Museum of Natural Science.  The HMNS was smaller then expected, but it seemed to have more depth then breath in their exhibits.  We took a tour of the Egyptian exhibit and did a planetarium show.  Then headed back down to Kemah to check out T-Bone Tom's Steakhouse (which was on Dinners, Drive-ins and Dives).

The best part of the trip by far was right after we finished and signed off the test, I ducked out and headed to League City to check out the closest yarn store.  I only had an hour but I needed to find something because stress had just about eaten through me.  Just driving up to Park Avenue Yarns I could feel the stress wounds start to heal up.  It's adorable, I even got some pictures.
I walked in and the person working there immediately welcomed me in.  She even pointed me towards some yarn that was dyed in Texas! I love getting souvenir yarn that I can't find back home.

After I picked out my yarn, I found out sit and knit at the shop was all the time! So I spent the rest of my free hour hanging out chatting with some knitters that were there.  It was just an amazing experience.  I felt like I found a little bit of home.  I found my happy place in Texas. I am just amazed how I could be halfway across the country but find a place that made me feel so comfortable, so good.

Vice Yarns, I got the blue colorway at the bottom called "Police Box"
My Rayures cowl on the last day of the trip, finally got through the first section
