Sock Club 2013 a la Lindsay

Last time I organized my stash I found out I have a big 5 gallon bag full of sock yarn and a library full of sock patterns so what better way to start the year then with a sock club of my own making.  Normally year long sock clubs can be over $200 for 6 yarns/6 patterns, which is a lot to put down all at once for me.  Since I don't care too much about getting exclusive yarns/patterns and I have all the materials already it makes less sense. So,  I went through my favorites and my library to compile a list of socks I have been wanting to do. Some are on here because I find the pattern interesting, or the construction really cool, or I just have yarn in my stash that would pair with it really well. I am prepped and ready to get soxy?

1) Monkey - ShiBui Sock
Cast on 1/13/13, see last post for details.

2) Concentric Socks - ShiBui Sock
I didn't love the way ShiBui pooled in the last pair of socks I did with it (Dicey). But I think with the interesting construction of these socks it should work out fine. I bought the light blue color and I think it will end up looking like I stuck my toes in a pool of water.  Hopefully I can just get gauge on this one and not have to spreadsheet it out like I did for my Skew's.

3) Owlie Socks - Free, Tess' Designer Yarns Super Socks
At Rhinebeck 2012 I helped out at Tess' Designer Yarns' booth. At the end of the day I was paid in yarn! A dream come true. So I splurged on a skein of Kitten, their cashmere silk blend ($85/skein). During Hurrican Sandy I made a beautiful cowl out of it, the black and pink striped nicely and it is super soft around my neck. I also got some bright blue super sock which I think will pair really well with these. I really love the bright orange the original pair was done in, but I don't have any orange so this will have to do.

4) Aquaphobia Socks - Free, Dove Roving Frolicking Feet
The slipped stitch pattern was made to work with varigated yarns that pool. Frolicking Feet didn't pool on me before when I made the Firestarters, but it did wear thin fast, so I'm hoping the firmer stitch will help with that as well as showing off the colors.

5) Cyber Flirt - Plymouth Yarn Encore Tweed
Haven't decided if I am going to make these for Jeremey or not. It will probably depend on how I'm feeling when I get to them.

6) GrĂ¼n ist die Hoffnung - Fiber Optic Kashmir
This sock starts with a beautiful lace motif in the middle of the top of the foot. Yup pretty sock and cool construction. Stephanie van der Linden's designs are amazing. I want to do so many of them.

7) Eddard - Free, Frog Tree Pedibo
I love this big cable pattern up the top of the foot. I have some squishy taupe yarn.

8) Gothic Spire Sock - Malabrigo Yarn Sock
These look very intricate, probably my most challenging pick.

9) Cascade Fixation Ankle socks - Free, Cascade Fixation
I picked up 1 ball of this in a destash, we'll see if I can make a pair of socks from it. I may have to do a contrasting trim, with some sock leftovers.

10) Pointelle - Wollmeise Sockenwolle 80/20 Twin
Another Cookie A pattern from Knit. Sock. Love.  I tried making fingerless gloves with this yarn but it just didn't work well with the pattern so I stopped after one. Hopefully it will work well this sock pattern.

11) Stripe Tease - Knit Picks Chroma
I received a skein of Chroma in a swap and this pattern is perfect for it's long color changes.

12) 129-18 Knitted ankle socks with lace in "Fabel" - Cherry Tree Hill Supersock
Another swap find, I only have 50 g. so I'm going with an ankle sock. Drops patterns can be a little tricky because they are translated so this will be interesting in it's own right.

13) Ballerina wannabees - Free, Knit Picks Rista
I have a bunch of discontinued Rista in black, bright blue and bright purple so I can play around with the strips and colors.

Runner ups:
Bly
Java Socks - Free
Inlay - Free
Afternoon Delight
